Arredondo \ Arozarena is pleased to present Write me, a three-artist exhibition of lens-based work by Raquel Mendes (Portugal), Katri Walker (Scotland) and Stina Wirfelt (Scotland/ Sweden). This exhibition brings together three visual artists who use video and photograph, to observe and investigate their environments as a means of understanding society as a whole and the personal scripts of each one.
The work between Write me is a collection of visual stories that were asking to be written. Individually, they move between the personal, the philosophical, the poetic, comedic and the political and collectively they document and explore social roles, personal experiences and behavior absorbed by individuals through cultural influences and by association with others.

Stina Wirfelt
(n.1980 Güteborg, Suecia) Lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland

Entrances is made up of three individual videos displayed on monitors, each consisting of a continuous shot with a fictional narrative read out by a voice-over. The footage in each is used to demonstrate the displacement that always occurs when watching moving image. By addressing the viewer directly, it draws attention to his or her expectations and how the image is read and understood by preconceptions. Ultimately, the videos attempt to make the viewer aware of the social and temporal context in which they are watching them.

Katri Walker

The Making of Three Guns for a Killing is a 'making-of', an intimate and colourful character study of a group of individuals and a deconstruction of the universally accepted modes and tropes implicit in the Western genre.

Raquel Mendes
(b.1978 Setúbal, Portugal) Lives and works in Portugal.

Mula de Lujo is a body of work in process that investigates the appearance of reality versus the reality of appearance. The work consists of a display of three photographic images of documents collected from both the public and private realm, with the intention of exploring a method of understanding and acceptance of an event.
