Gustavo Abascal



b. Mexico City, Mexico. 1979. Lives and works in Mexico City.

Studied Visual Arts at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, UNAM (1999-2001) as well as diverse courses and workshops including Taller de Literatura Portátil at MUCA, UNAM (taught by Vivian Abenshushan) and Taller de Creación Literaria at Adhoc Ingeniería Cultural (taught by Guillermo Samperio). He received an Honorable Mention in the 1st Cordoba Biennale, Argentina. Illustrations by him have appeared in various publications including Al filo de la luna by Guillermo Samperio, Cacaxtla by Howard Quaquenbush, Gustavo Abascal Grafica 2004-2007 (Samsara Editorial), WOW Magazine, Indie Rocks! Magazine and Generación Magazine.

In 2016 he was selected to do the Viborg Kunsthal residency in Denmark. His most recent solo exhibitions include El ideal larvado at the Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, Cultural Syndrome at Arredondo \ Arozarena gallery and La Nada y el Todo at Impronta Casa Editora.
